#269/365 For the youth

The building you see is mainly use for youth activities; where you can enjoy movies in the mini cinema, coffee and even take some dance lessons :)

Update :
I finally look-up the town's guide, and included herewith additional info. for anyone interested..

This youth centre was once the club-house of  Association of the Tradesmen in Kecskemét. The building was based on the plan of architects Marcell Komor and Dezso Jakab in 1906-1907. The second floor used to function as a ballroom which currently houses the 400 seats cinema. The reconstruction took place in 1937.

#267/365 Pillars

These pillars are supporting  the Doctors (GP) building. They are hidden . You wouldn't have known they existed unless you walk by this part of the town. The carvings seem to tell a story...

#264/365 Kodály concert hall

our first time in the Kodály music hall

Saturday :- another function to attend, a cello concert to be specific. The concert was organised by local district of International Lion's club.

Cellist from Germany

I read that it's the Lion's club's tradition to hold a competition of one musical instrument each year on the occasion. The cello was this year's instrument of competition. Cellists from France, Germany and Hungary competed. Although I 'm not a classical music lover, I find the French cellist performance moved me most. As it turns out, the French did win the competition!

Beautiful job, girls!

Before the announcement of the competition results, we were treated with a performance by Aurin Girl's Choir , a Kodály school's choir. Their performance was very moving ; where I find myself on the verge of tears on few occasions..so bravo!

#263/365 A day at Bugac Puszta

We're very late with Friday's post ; but here you are!

The delay was due to that we spent a day out at the Bugac Puszta, which is part our region's National Park. Before we continue this photo heavy post. Let's understand the meaning of Bugac Puszta

Bugac is the largest separate area of the Kiskunsag National Park. A region with a wealth of outstanding natural beauty and environmental value, the Bugac area includes the highly protected Native Juniper Grove (Osborokas), sand dune forests and sand plains, marshes, bogs, boggy meadows, wet grasslands, sodic lakes and sodic plains. The sand-dune forests of junipers and poplars accommodate numerous rare species of plants and animals.

Puszta, the most common meanings of the word ‘puszta’ in Hungarian are: desolate, dreary, barren, treeless flat country.

Welcome food and drinks!

This food is addictive. A bit like pizza , the topping is un mistakenly Hungarian.

After some refreshments, our carriage awaits!

Altogether our group hired 3 carriages. The ride is rather nice and fun :)

some traditional embroidery on our driver's vest.

The Hungarian grey cattle grazing while our carriage passed.

They were just doing their thing!

and then the horses appear...

someone please copy this design, a coat worn by ancient shepard @shepard museum

we're here for the horse show, too..so let's get it started!

the set up is like a traditional landscape of the great plain.

yeah, he grabbed the most attention for his skill!

there are others as well doing an equally fine job :)

here he is again, galloping

going faster to please the crowd!

some tv crew was there too!

part of the tricks the horses learnt...

you can also cuddle like this for nap...

the whip sounds fierce, but no harm caused

close up of the traditional grab. I like the airyness of it.

how can I not post it when he posed for me :)

they start young!

whip action!

audience must participate...

final challenge..

After the show, we had lunch here and bought a souvenir for rememberence.

#260/365 Behind the facade

As much as I adore facades, for me, the backs of the buildings are where you find the stories.

#256/365 Exploring Máriaváros

Máriaváros, or Mária town (population 7934) is one of the smaller towns within our "city". We were there to look for an address. We found where we needed to go, but on the way out we saw this curved traffic mirror ;  so why not get a photo of ourselves!

#251/365 Indian summer

Despite coming from a tropical country, I'm not loving the constant heat through out the summer. For me, Indian summer is really the best, cold mornings and nights, with plenty of sunshine during day...ah, perfect!
